Don't worry about reeling against the drag and twisting your line. You'll hear the line running out thru the guides and over the reel's line roller--and more importantly, you'll be the only person who hears it.  |

same thing happened to me with my VS, clicker chit the bed, and I'll tell you what, I was absolutely lost without it. Takes a little time to get used to no clicker.
but when all was said and done, I was happier than a kid on christmas when my buddy tapped a new hole in the spool and and it sang like a canary once again
ps.....there's usually no one around where decksweeper and I fish anyway
....just don't like the crowds
