Painting Belly Hooks?

On my way home from work today, while sitting in traffic I was thinking about plugs (surprise, surprise...). I've heard of fish being "leader shy" and hence the need for flourocarbon leaders. But I've never heard of a fish being "hook shy" before.

It seems to me that so much time and effort goes into painting a plug to make it look just perfect and very lifelike. But then we add these sharp, very bright, metallic looking thingies to the bottom of the plug . . . very unlifelike.

So here's the question, has anyone ever painted their belly hooks to match the belly of the plug?

Just curious. Seems like it would make sense to me...

Thanks,
Rich
