Thumbs up Over a Year in the Making

Headed out in the bay today and was turned around because of wind and small waves which made it a liitle rough on the skiff. On my way back to the harbor I caught out of the corner of my eye a nice boil going on in the flats. I slowly made my way in and took my time positioning the skiff because of the wind, outgoing current, and annoying little waves. 1st cast big hit no hook up 2nd cast bigger hit and the fight was on. Good fish for me and I thought it might be just keeper size. It was 29" and loaded with sea lice. Caught a few more but they got smaller. I was skunked on keepers last year so this was extra special getting one before Memorial Day. Hopefully good sign for this season. Nice to be out there at sunrise with no other boats and a bite all to myself. I'll remember this morning for awhile as it's only going to get busier and busier with more boats and fisherman from here on in. The fish will be eaten tomorrow at our annual family clam bake in Middletown, RI. Hope everyone has a great Memorial Day weekend, mine couldn't have started off any better!
