I haven't used the guides. Depending on their height, you can probably go 40-25-16-10-10-10- and possibly 30HH-20H-12-8-8-8- (which is worth some test casts if all you plan to use is braid). I built a single SSU 10 footer using Fuji VSGs with the 1st guide plan (the collector guide is 33" from the retracted spool lip). It worked well with heavy fireline. Plan to try the second sequence on another 10 ftr this winter. Also, my experience with big spinners is minimal so don't use what I say as gospel. The thread below this and several on SOL (http://www.stripersonline.com/surfta...d.php?t=622050)
discuss some of the issues involved. Lots of advice, but not much from people who have actually built on 10 ft rods. Much of the advice is based on experience with 13.5 ft rods (which gives you more space to get down to small guides straight away). Good luck.
