New PB - 34lbs and great night
Got out late last week in the boat. Fished from 8:30 - 11:30pm. Solid fish from 10 to 34lbs, 3 in the mid 20s. I have never broken 30 before, 29, but not 30. I only had 4 eels and was getting bass on dead, ripped up eels. The 34 fought like a train, I cannot believe how much more it fought than a high 20lb fish. It was insane, a few awesome runs. I had her right in the lip, but the hole was pretty ripped and I was sure I would lose her on the side of the boat. My camera's self timer wouldnt focus right in the dark and I was only able to get one pic of me holding her and it was pretty lame. Took a bunch of her in the boat. All fish were released. This was in 10 ft or so of water along rocks south of the jtown bridge. Common surfcasting spot. Water was flat calm. Summer doldrums my a$$.
I am changing my strategy, usually I fish from 1-2am until sunrise, but my last 3 trips have been 8pm - midnight and I have gotten way more fish and able to have a beer when I get home and sleep. I called a buddy with the news about the fish and he said it was deserved with all my family went through the last 2 months, the heavens were shining down on me! I hope the pics do it some justice.
