I was once sitting at the bar at the shagwong and the guy next to me was drinking draft beers and as many do at their local bar , the guy drinking the drafts just left his change on the counter so the bartender could just work off that money instead of having to reach into his pocket each time.
WEll he passed out cold , head down on the bar. The bartender came over , took his glass and filled it up , took the right amount of money and put the glass on the bar right infront of the passed out guys head.
I looked at the bartender with I guess a strage look because without me saying anything he told me " this happens every night. He'll wake up in a while and just start drinking the beer in front of him and not even know he had passed out for a while".
That incident and the big Blue Marlin head sticking out of the wall made the Shagwong Cafe a must visit place for me when I went to Montauk. It was my kind of place.
