Already have been fish on the bay side from shore....some fish on ocean side from boats but only a couple from shore so far on ocean side that I've heard about. You could always talk to Rich at Nelson's to get the latest.

But the big push of smaller fish usually hits the ocean side any day now. I've had 60 fish days on the beaches several different years around 5/15-5/18. If you hit it on the right day, a swimmer with a red gill teaser will get you schoolie doubles all day long, with smaller keepers at dusk and dawn. This time of year night vs day doesn't matter all that much. The beauty of fishing there early in the season is that the seals aren't as thick, and the fish are often a bit more spread out, so you aren't in a picket fence line of fishermen with 25 seals bobbing off shore waiting for you to hook up. Downside, of course, is that you are fishing almost exclusively for schoolies and very small keepers.
