"Unbroken" by Laura Hillenbrand

I received this book for christmas and read it cover to cover in a few days. Its about a guy name Louis Zamperini who after a mishchevious childhood (and thats being polite), and a stellar running career as a high schooler and college/olympian, enlisted in the army air force and was eventually taken captive by the Japenese. He was m,ade to fly in an airplane that had been strip of many parts to fix other more air worthy craft by a Lt. that was an A-hole. The horror that followed brought me to tears at times reading aout the horrific abuses heaped upon Zamperini and all the other prisoners, but especially Zamperini. One guard in particular took great pleasure in beating a former Olympian, forcing him to run races against Japanese runners, beating one, which caused him to incur an awful beating himself. The book is a must read. He was one of the greatest of the greatest generation.
