From what i've been reading on the Net...as soon as you say 3 speed
you just added 200.00 more bucks.
The best way to take along a cooler is to rig a trailer to the back of your bike. That also solves the problem of your bike tipping over in the wind.

Please trust me on this---you will live to rue the day if you go with a single speed. While the service road is generally flat, there are some inclines that you will feel if you can't change speeds, and when you're pedaling against the wind--and the Canal is usually windy--you'll work your arse off, especially carrying that much weight.
