Fresh is best.

Frozen, then thawed, too soft, good for chum!

(Why do they stink worse aftah froze/thaw, then just a coupla days old, and soft?)

I am going to try my my friends method, seems better... get them fresh, if you have surplus, rinse them good and clean with salt water, put in ziploc, cover with salt water, zip up tight, freeze, they seem to hold the hook better, firmer... wonder if you could just kosher salt 'em and freeze 'em, like clams?
