The Lost Migration

last year a work related injury (L elbow tendon tear[s]) side-lined me for MUCH of the season. i did land a keeper on my first trip to the surf at me honey hole. it was apparently a "freak of nature" by length and weight standards according to piemma, but for me it was just a joy to be able to put one on the table for me and my gurrrrrlz,,,,,,,,,,,

i was reduced to 4, FOUR, trips to the surf!!

as i reflect on what i missed the most, outside of the obvious, i am encouraged by the feeling that what matters to me most these days was the fact that i missed out on fishing with you CRAZY bunch of surf cocoanutz the MOST of it ALL!!

perhaps i've turned a corner? could be that i'm just getting soft? usually, i hit the rocks solo and i hit them hard. but it sort of dawned on me during the MS Surf Club Challenge last year during breakfast at a table with mixed "members",,,,,,,,this blissful obsession is infinitesimally more enjoyable when shared with like-minded obsessors!

doan get me wrong, i am still gonna fish like a mad bastage for a LAHHHHGE of a Lifetime; but with regard to the losing of a migration the thing i LOST the most was the opportunity to share many moons with the other surfwarriors of our Tribe. for truly, the ties that bind us all~ no matter how diverse our backgrounds, jobs, heritages, or inclinations be ~are the angling of the gear, the devising of the moons, the sequestering of the tides, and that the enrichment of our souls is bound directly and proportionately to the amount of time we spend out there, in the surf.

mostly, we are alone with God, sea, and species and there is great value to those times that allow us ALL the ability to disconnect from the rat race and have communion with God and nature; yet, somewhat reluctantly, i've discovered that when ya add a bruthah surfcaster to the mix something about the experience changes,,,,,,,,

well then, the salt just becomes much more saltier; while size still matters, it matters much less ~individually; and by the very nature of having someone to share the woes and the wow's with, the skunkings and the slams with, the darkness and the 3 dawns with,,,,,,,,,

somehow, the whole of it ALL is much richer and more memorable than having done any of it~~ all by one's lone self. it just shows to go ya, how very thankful i am for my health, for this site and the surfcasters gathered here, and for the gift of Grace that God has granted me to be a small part of His Great and Wondrous Glory!!

!!! May He grant us ALL, His Peace and His Provision in 2012 !!!
