Sport Fishing on the "TG" with "Patriot Boats" out of Falmouth, Mass. Or NOT.

Sport Fishing on the "TG" with "Patriot Boats" out of Falmouth, Mass. Or NOT.
July 19 thru July 23 2003.
We (me and a buddy) had a good but unproductive time fishing. Some bites but small. Mostly in Wareham.
Then in one bait shop or another he found a flyer for Patriot Boat Charters, Ground fishing and Sport fishing.
We called for the Sport fishing, prices and availability. Found we could (and did) book for the next day for the Sport (bass and blues)fishing trip, at 0530 sharp, Cost is $80.00 each, and we would be two of six.. I gave them my cell number so they could call if "for some reason they had to cancel" and got the particulars on what time, what to bring what not to bring, and then our planning began. They would supply the rods tackle and bait. We could bring food, water, sunscreen rain gear and the like (also one or two rods and a few lures and plugs for doing some sight casting, if the opportunity arose.) I called to confirm one thing or another for the trip and all was well.

We went to bed later then we should have and got up at 0300 so we could be out the door by 0400 or so.
We arrived at the boat dock at 0445 looked around and went back out to the Mobile/Extra mart/ whatever it was, with the DD's to get coffee. Got back to the dock at 0505 and the wait was on. No one showed up till 0630 for the ferry to the "islands" but they had no idea what was what about any part of what was going on except the ferry. about 0730, I got some one on the phone, and asked what was happening here? No one was here; no skipper no other fishermen, no nobody. I was told the Capt, had canceled due to the weather forecast last night and all were called as to that. Well I was not called and was here ready to go fishing. I was offered a FREE GROUND FISHING TRIP. Well I said thanks but if I wanted a ground fishing trip I most likely would have booked it that way. After about 10 or 15 minutes I was told the Capt, of the ground fishing boat found me a Sport fishing trip and they were waiting. Oh well I said lets go. Off we went to the other dock and found a boat waiting for me at $100 an hour with a 5 hour min. we did not fish with him as we don’t have that kind of money on hand and were not planning to or going to drop that kind of cash today.

We were given the talk about things happen and we could be top of the list for next day (with a small discount maybe), or the next ,,, weather you know. Well wed no go weather, and now not Thursday apparently they have no Capt, for the “TG” ...

As I understand it the Capt, called the other four but did not get back in Monday night to get my cell number, and did not call anyone from Patriot Boats to say he had blown off the trip for Wednesday because of the weather…

Oh well it just means I have to get my own boat done if I can ever get the money together..

Long post I know, Rant mode off…/ al
