Inhereted Revolver
My father in law passed away recently. My wife went to grab some valuables as his house was going to be inhabited by caregivers for her mother who has Alzheimers. So she finds an older .32 revolver in his sock drawer, brings it home in a shopping bag and tells me to do something with it. It's pretty cool looking, actually, but the ammo that came with it is all corroded. It's empty and in my strong box.
But here's the question, I don't have a pistol permit and I haven't checked in NJ if you need to register a handgun, too. Could I take it some place and have it rendered unshootable and keep it without a permit? Right now I'm hesitent even to take it someplace just to see what it's worth.
