I know how you feel. Went and threw a bunch of stuff at the canal twice. Going to fish 3 or 4 out of the next seven days with good friends, but I'm just not amped up. Maybe it's the loss of access in a bunch of my usual haunts, maybe I'm just tired of the game. Staying home with the wife on weekends is getting more and more inviting.

Could be our career choices, Stewie? Surviving these winters without work, and then getting slammed in May is getting really trying.....

Canal is slow. I know there have been reports of fish and I have been getting my share but the biggest so for is 22# and almost everything else has been rats.
Fished from 3 to 5:30 AM this morning in a monsoon rain. Tide just turned, full moon, overcast and rain. 3, 25" rats to show for almost 3 hours. |
No boat, back in the suds.

no consistency down there so far. pods of fish one day, gone the next. seems like they're moving right through on their way to macs...
RI has been on FIRE though!!

you and I are hearing and seeing different things then.... other than way up North...
wicked late. 5 month old who doesn't sleep has cut into my nights considerably... que sera, good weekend to fish and it'll blow 30...  oh well |

I got started really late and like some others...just not feeling the bug yet to go. Went surf casting a couple times...a few bluefish. There are some bass around but not in the mood to go out for some reason. (perhaps it's low T? )
So I chip away at small jobs on the boat and I am not even pushing to get it in. I work for a couple hours early in the morning until my back hurts then back to the house or the office. Boat is looking good though, got a lot of little projects off my check list.
Just finished painting the bilge...(It was always clean but I had the paint for 2 years and figured I better use it) I seem to get more satisfaction out of working on the boat then I do fishing...at least at the moment anyway. As soon as I hear there are tuna or white marlin around I may put it in gear.

I know the last year was a tough one for me, and this year has it's share of distractions. Most of last season I stayed local, just wasn't feeling the drive! I too wanna spend the time with my family! I know this feels good, the quality time with the wife and son!  |

Running late seems to have become a way of life for me, too occupied to be away for more than a few hours. Been flyfishing for trout because I can steal an hour in the evenings behind my house.
Sigh.
I miss the surf.
