i have heard a couple times about hobie carts damaging scupper holes. in fact someone from AIST had that issue last year and started sinking off kings beach in NP before he realized it was damaged. lost gear and almost life from what i recall. I think he had to be rescued. i'll ask around and see what they did to fix the prob. my guess is it's happened a lot more than just what we hear on the east coast so I would def harass hobie until problem is resolved. could check on some of the other kayak forums as well
