Rivers End Tackle - Striper Surf Day 2014
River End Tackle, has finalized the 2014 Striper Surf Day line-up. The yearly celebration of everything striper surf fishing is scheduled to take place at the shop, located at 440 Boston Post Road, on Saturday, March 22, from 10 AM to 4 PM. It’s a great day to hang out, take in a seminar and tell some lies with fellow surf rats. There will be a slew of great speakers with an emphasis on how-to demonstrations, factory reps, sales, door prizes, gourmet road kill and good friends.
The current list of featured surfcasters and demonstrations are as follows:
Bill Wetzel is a legendary Montauk guide and will be giving a seminar on “Reading the Water”. Bill’s knowledge and delivery will have you leaving for the beach immediately.
Steve McKenna will be conducting a seminar entitled “The Top 10 Surf Lures” and will also be demonstrating how to load Redfins and Northbar Bottle Darters.
Toby Lapinski will demonstrate how to make the classic rigged eel.
Dennis Zambrotta will demo how to rig eel bobs as well as show you how to fish with teasers. He’ll also be signing copies of his book “Surfcasting Around the Block”
Zeno Hromin will demo his online magazine “Surfcasters Journal”
Adam Romagna is displaying antique striper plugs and can help ID and appraise your old lures.
Shimano will demonstrate their new line of surf rods and reels.
There will also be reps on hand from CTS Rods, Van Staal, Commando Surfcasting, Super Strike, Zee Baas, Tsunami, Lunker City, Pure Fishing, Guppy Lures and more. As always the day is free and open to the public.

Not sure how the "how to fish with teasers" got into my demo but I'll gladly take questions about them. Nice lineup and looking forward to eating some great food with hands that smell from rigging eelbobs all morning. Toby bring some more of your eelbob heads if you have them - maybe the guys will purchase some them rig them at my table.

Sorry Dennis, that was what I got from Pat and Joe and since it's on the internet it must be true.
I'll bring some extra eel bobs along as I am pretty sure I have a bunch of them that I made up. I'll also have a box of rubber gloves if you want some as I too will be combating eel smell in my hands while trying to eat.

Toby, I hate to admit that I have never been to Pat's shop so it's Boston Post Road. Is that Mystic or Stonington?

Sorry about that, the address is 440 Boston Post Road, Old Saybrook, CT. Parking is usually moved over to the former car dealership that is just east of the shop. I made up a quick image and the shop is circled in yellow while parking circled in red. There will be members of the Connecticut Surfcasters on hand to direct traffic for parking.

Always a good time. Well worth the drive. Hope the parking is the same as it has been for the past couple of years.

I stopped into Rivers End a week or so ago while down there. Very nice store. Spoke with the owner and one of the guys. Very friendly and I ended up with a new toy.

Long drive but great seeing Toby, DZ and Stevie McKenna.
Also good meeting Charlie and John (I think his name was John) from Surfcasters Journal. Seemed like a good crowd.
I didn't buy anything but a shirt from "the Journal" guys and paid my dues for the Club to DZ.
