Acadia National Park

The final leg of our driving trip has us in Bar Harbor for two night at the end of August. This really means one full day in town.

Never been there so any input on places to go, where to eat or things to see are welcome. Will have a 4 and 10 year old so any stuff fun for kids is great.

Definitely want to check out the park.

thanks,

-spence

Wife and I went on cruise on a schooner there last year. About 2 or 3 hours long. I'm guessing maybe $35 each???

Spent a lot of time there. Never had a bad meal anywhere really. Great ice cream on the town pier parking lot. Definately do Cadilac Mtn. Cheesy gift shop up top, but thats o.k. if your lucky you'll see guys on bikes peddling up the mountain. Great hiking trails. Thunder hole is always cool if the waves work with you. There is a restaurant inside Acadia that was really good, can not remember name.

I was just there a few weeks ago with my wife. Stayed at the Harborside Hotel Spa/Marina.
Beautiful town (lots of cheesy gift shops though)
Food is great pretty much everywhere. A few cant miss places to eat down town:

This Way Cafe (looks like a house but food/beer is awesome.)

Side street cafe was great too for lobster rolls.

2 Cats for breakfast was killer and you should really try to hit that place.

Lobster rolls anywhere are great.

There is a three master schooner tour, whale
watch, kayak etc.

At low tide the Bar is exposed and you can walk to Bar Island. Kids will love that and all the tide pools. Some
cars were driving on it a few weeks back.

Have fun.

Did anyone see the eclipse of the sun this morning at 5:00am, it must have been caused by Spence's head.

Just FYI in August Cadillac Mountain is not the first light on the eastern seaboard...not until the middle of October

I'll be sleeping in as long as my kids will allow.

Thanks, I'll note these. Low tide is 4:22pm so that could work perfectly...

I believe we're staying just around the corner from where you were at the Bar Harbor Inn.
