I never had a problem with line-lay as long as a shop spooled it properly
to begin with (convex, with a hump in the center of the spool)

Since the VS tends to lay extra line near the top and bottom of the spool, it flattens out if initially spooled with extra in the center. If anyone is unsure of the "hourglass" effect, try spooling the reel yourself by reeling the line on manually until nearly full, and you will end up with line bunched up on the bottom, and spilling over the top of the spool.

again, its not a big deal if you have it spooled convex to begin with.
