MJ Back in the late 50,s early 60,s ...........we made our 1st real money in Mt Hope bay ........... back then the Power Plant ,s discharge came out the side in the middle of the Lees river not at Brayton Pt where it has been for many years ................. the water temp in the summer was easly in the 80,s >>>>>>>>>>>> & at the discharge we always had tropical fish the followed the tankers or were in the tankers .......waaaaaay back then they was [1] seal that spent every winter on the dock @ georges evinrude on wilbur ave right at the bridge .

we always had sharks .NOt sand sharks, that also followed the ships in & it was not uncommon on calm days to see shark fins as we rode around ........... Spar Island always was good for a few sightings .

every year the Fall river Herald had a few articles & photos of guys that caught one <>< one guy in particular would shoot it with a bow & arrow that was tied to his fishing rod .

The three experiences that i can remember were ........... Less river was closed to shellfishing which equated to it being loaded with shellfish .so that were we got to make Lincoln Park money ............ I remember two fins heading in out direction as we dug .
another was we fished a lot in the discharge . when it was active it had a real strong current / sometimes we anchored in the middle & held rebels dead in the current to catch bass & white perch . One day we had a stringer of blues strung over the side of the boat . we look down current & see this big fin slowing approching us he kept coming & just before he reached the fish we lifted them out of the water ,, he slowly swam by ........... these were not small sand sharks . &&&&&&&& the last one that I can remember was we were pluggging from a plywood runabout & my partner hooked a bass ......... he got it near the boat & at the same time that he lifted it into the boat a shark came out of nowhere . he missed the bass but did crack the side of the boat ..once they changed the discharge it was never even close to being the same ><>< TRUE STORY ><>< If you do a search of the Fall River Herald there maybe he old articles ....
