Problem with that statement, is that the democrats started labeling everyone who disagrees with them as ignorant bigots, before Trump came along. Trump won because republicans were tired of being insulted all the time. That frustration didn't begin during Trumps candidacy.

Trump is indeed a genius at getting democrats to humiliate themselves. But the willingness of democrats to trash everyone who disagrees with them as barefoot illiterate racists, started long before Trump. Trump was the first to tell these people to go ---- themselves, and that's why he won.
