wow!! I just bought a new set today! Came home and saw this post! Talk about timing! My last set were spent.

Depending on where you fish, I find you don't need them, BUT when you do need them they make an amazing difference, esp on that black stuff that grows on the rocks...that can be like black ice and no one can stand on it. The korkers bite right thru it and grab into the stone. I am surprised they have not gotten a contract with a wader company to build them right into the sole of the boot...Just don't walk indoors with them!!! They can really rip up a nice hardwood floor.

BTW, I echo the tightness matter, if they become loose...it is better not to have them at all.
