It is no longer IF we are going into recession. It is how deep and how long.... And in case you did not connect the dots, tariffs are another way to raise taxes, without raising taxes......

I’ve read a full blown recession is about 40% now. And tariffs as taxes, true, and hits the poor and middle class the hardest.
The shyte will really hit the fan when rural red states realize wealthy liberal cities have been subsidizing them all along once these federal cuts either just eliminate services they depend upon or state taxes go up to compensate.
Now the deficit increase, by making the wealthiest tax cuts permanent, is estimated at 9 Trillion over ten years. The only way to legally pass this is for the House to use an alternative model where the cost is estimated at zero because it’s off of the current baseline — where the taxes are in effect — rather than as a spending increase after they expire.
This is like me running a 10k a month visa bill when I earn 7k, yet claiming my new bill of 11k/mo is only 1000 dollars higher so everything’s great!
Anyone who is rightly concerned about our national debt should be wretching over what’s being proposed.

What a scam he pulled on the people who voted him into office, lower prices day one (nope), reduce the deficit (nope), make America great again; if becoming hated by our allies and loved by the dictators of the world is the definition yup. The rich and insiders are poised to start buying the bargains. Buckle up this recession will be a tough one. Hey Marsh are we winning now?
I feel so bad for the veterans who served our country proudly and are getting a royal screwing by this administration. The veterans still serving are worried about our national security as those in charge are carelessly discussing sensitive national security intel over a commercial app, while all our adversaries are loving that fact and are likely reading the chats with smiles on their faces.

We’re talking about the price of sand worms Paulie. I say 58 bucks a flat isn’t terrible but if they’re the good New Brunswick sand worms those are going to be like 70 now.

Trust me most of America will soon be screaming that same thing as their retirement savings take the hit, but we are winning watching Trump burn down the house to cook his steak. Our post covid economy was the envy of the world, he killed it in one day and then flew off to play golf.

After 4 years of not one post it took less than a month to find this thread and see that it still hasn't changed even after JohnR said no more.
Done with this place.

You are aware this is the grumpy old pharts board, seems like a logical thread to me and I for one am capable of discussing what are some serious national security and economic issues and pop into post in the fishing threads if and when I hit the salt again.

Not everything can be fake news 100% of the time. But that’s the suggestion
Believe in truth
To abandon facts is to abandon freedom. if nothing is true, then no one can criticize power because there is no basis upon which to do so if nothing is true, then all is spectacle the biggest wall pays for the most blinding lights.
Not sure why some people are afraid to read actual facts and current events
I haven’t seen anyone naming names . Just people pointing out the obvious .. not hate no vitriol just a conversation..
