I would never use a 200 reel in the canal because it's a mean place and can swallow you hole.
Now for scientific reasoning the bearings n the 700 are junk some arnt even ball bearings stick with ABu or Penn like BM suggested the squidder will never fail you. However I am a steadfast Abu fan and Im collecting as many old ABu's as possible but the new wons arent that bad just stay away from the higher geared models according to Mikcc the gears can handle the speed. In the canal you need a man's reel penn, abu, or newel.
