Here is an interesting tidbit I picked up in my boating safety and seamanship class that I took before buying. When the forecast says waves 2-4 ft, this means that 70% of all the waves you encounter will be between 2 and 4 ft tall.

What about the remaining 30% you ask? That means 15% will be smaller and 15% will be taller. In other words - one out of every six waves will be 5' or more tall.

"2-4' seas" can actually be pretty rough depending on the size of your boat.

"Time and tides wait for no man", ... and neither do the fish.
