good reel for new rod

It is a great rod. A "good" reel IMO would be the small baitrunners...either the shimano. 3500 or the penn (small br..can't recall the number). The shimano you will need mono the penn you can use braid (minor problems but works ok) . (Casting distance with the penn/briad is amazing for that little rod) The small shimano has problems with any briad (I tried 3 brands they all sucked..it was an expensive mistake, but I have mono on there now and it works fine).

if you want a step up the shiomano stratic (which seems to do braid ok).
VS/Stellas are out of that rods league...makes no sense.

Also you could use a penn 550 or the slammer model of about the same size (w/mono).

That lil rod is great for bonesblues and small bass in the surf. Last season I landed a 32#er on that thing and it was a blast!.

PS I broke it later in the season...the damn thing comes with an over the counter warentee...if you break it for any reason it will be replaced, no questions asked!! Amazing deal IMO.

They have a new line of boat rods out now and I am thinking of buying 4 of them...they are sweet. A custome equiv would cost 5X what they are selling these for and would not be *that* much better.
