New Plug hits market...A Squid

That's right folks...

The newest creation and first lure from the newlty formed "Al Gags Custom Lures" is hitting stores right now.

It is called the Squid-Zee and looks just like a small Squid. The body is made of ABS plastic and is very hard and solid. Around 5 1/2 inches long with two small wings up top tapered thicker towards the bottom (7/8 inch) head with large eyes. I was suprised at the hardware which is much better than Al's previous creations. It is wired through with a heavy duty split ring and large stainless siwash on the bottom. (lots of potential for hand tied tails, rubber skirts, etc.etc.)

The ones I got ahold of were both weighted (2 3/8 oz and unweighted at 1 oz)

The first color is marbled pink in the old Atom coloring style. Rumor has it they are also coming out in Yellow and Green.

I through it this weekend at a few places including the Canal. I caught fish in two of three places. At the canal I absolutely hammerred the fish with it. However it was not fair as the bass & blues were spitting up small Squid.

What I found interesting was that it cast farther than my 3oz Kastmaster with bucktail. NO BS, I couldn't beleive it myself.

1...You can fish it like a tin...long cast and just reel back in swimming.
2...You can cast it out, crank it up top and retrieve slowly like a needle.
3...You can Cast it out, let it sink and slowly retreive it in a verticle sweep type of action (this is what worked in the Canal)

Definately on a rebound fron the problems of the Slammer...I think Al is back to Mambo fish catching ability with this one.

I can't wait to throw this on MV...

Hey John r...I got a couple testers for you

TLap,

I was only referring to the Original weight changes in the slammer...As is right now it catches fish quite well...not ot mention it is as good from a boat as it is from shore and that can not be said about most lures

New plug

Thanks Bettle for the pictures, interesting simple looking plug. I can see why it would cast far now. Should be easly for all you plug builders to near duplicate.

Yes it does but it sure is catching fish for me...over 30 blues and 15 Bass in 4 trips....largest bass is 36.5 inches so far

Next week the Yellow, black and Amber colors come out

I am not saying it is the best lure ever made, just that it is catching fish, casts a mile and is very durable...all for short money

Casts like a freakin' missile! No bass today but the bluefish at Monomy point thought it was tasty. Casted into a pod O' Albies with it too, no takers there. I gotta go lay down and stretch now the bum weather report that called for 5 to 10 northeast was really 15 to 20 and from Monomoy point back to Stage Harbor in a 14 foot tin skiff it's a long painfull ride, up and down, up and down bang, crash slam!!!!

Why even try.........
