Sorry I had not replied until now... Still no phone at the new house...not even a phone line...

Hello all !!! Had a great time meeting all of you that stepped out to OctoberFish this weekend. Its loads of fun when you finally get a chance to put a face with a name whether that person is someone you've started to chat with very recently or have been harrassed by for the last couple years !!! What I found was a great collection of guys (none of the gals could make it) VERY enthusiastic about chasing fish with lines running down the side… We had people coming from Conneticut to Maine down to fish this tiny little corner of Rho Dysland (gotta learn to say it now that I live here) and the weather was great if not too nice outside. For the first time, I had the opportunity to meet Carl, Fishpart (outfitted in his halucinogenic, dessert storm battle dress fishing gear) , BillB, (Chunker of Death, Ledge Lizard) and I had another chance to fish with Saltheart before he headed north to chase cod… I already had Greg in tow for the weekend as he help #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^& and my brothers to get me and the wife moved into our new home…

As usual, I was running late to the scene of the crime (just closed on my new house 24hrs before, little busy) and had showed up at Bess Eaton about an hour late with the Schoolie Monster in tow. Fortunately, Saltheart picked up both the slack and the guys and headed to Fresh Pond Rocks/Central Beach in time to get teased by large schools of busting bass 3 casts out of range. The teasing increased as the schools would shoot in close for a New York minute and scram before you had more than one cast at them. BillB aka “Chunker of Death” had a quick dance with a fish before spitting out the hook (the fish – not Bill) and the school scramed to about a ¼ mile off shore… Of course the boats were surrounding some of these schools and did not appear to be hooking up much either…

After a couple group photos (I’ll get the shots up soon), we decided to hit Watch Hill Light for the last of the incoming and the turn. Slipnot called on the way to the lighthouse with a friend of his and after meeting up in the parking lot and learning who’s who, we hit the rocks for some stripers. Watch Hill, like many great spots, can be hot or dead. It looked promising at first as Greg, living up to his name as “Schoolie Monster” got in to a 24 inch bass after just a few casts of the eel. I had a couple bumps early on and did manage on nice hookup on an aggressive 22-24# fish 8) . Much fun and difficulty keeping that fish out of the rocks ‘cause that’s all that is really in front of you is rocks and reef… Things really looked promising. Nice wind, surf building, hits and fish… Then not much of anything. I had one more bump about an hour later. Slipnot had a couple hits but it really got quiet and we didn’t see anything else happening… Several of us chatted for a while and most of us headed out to try other spots or just to get some shut eye…

I want to thank you guys as I had a blast and hope to fish with you again!!! There should be at least a few weeks left down the Ocean State to catch some bass before the big gals are gone and maybe there will be another chance or two….
