Thanks for all the thanks and well-wishes guys.

I have to tell you…I’m a Police Officer and EMT. I’ve seen the birth training videos, read the “manual” and learned from the best. NOTHING could prepare me for my own child coming into the world.

Friday at 0100 hrs, my wife said her water broke. Well, I was sleeping and thought I heard her say, “THE water broke” and said I’ll fix it tomorrow. Then she made the point abundantly clear that it was HER water!

We went to the hospital and checked in. She was having some good contractions so they gave her some drugs.

At about 1445 on Friday, the nurse said it was time to start the pushing. I immediately helped by grabbing her leg when she had a contraction and comforting her when I could. Let’s just say I was up close and personal to where my son would come out. I was not scared, just nervous. I wanted everything to be alright.

She started the pushing and I started the comforting. It was the worst feeling in the world to see my wife in pain and there was really nothing I could say or do to stop the hurt.

At 1726, my son came into the world. Let me tell you, I cried as much as he did. I was in love from the start. We didn’t know what we were having and the birth of a son was GREAT news. We were both very excited.

The baby is doing great and we are home now. There is NOTHING in the world that could make me happier than the one I love bringing new life, my new son into the world. I still get teary when I see him. He’s beautiful!

So, the fun begins….changing diapers, burping and the nights of little sleep. I would not trade it for anything in the world, not even a 50 pounder!!

Oh yea, and YES….he has his own rod waiting for him to come with daddy and gramps to learn the ins and outs of fishing!!

So, without further adieu, here he is….Zachary Roland Thomas 8 pounds, 21 inches long and as cute as a button!!
