Thames fish don't do a whole lot of feeding, if any at all. They gorge theme selves in the fall run, so when they get to the Thames can survive on thier built up energy. A study of Hudson R. striper holdovers suggests that the hold overs people catch are the ones with the lowest amount of stored protein, which is why they need to feed, and strike a lure. When casting I've caught them on zoom flukes, but bass assassins have been working better. Trolling mini umbrella frames by boat tend to work better though.
