I've got one that I use on my kayak. I find it useful for identifying structure more than anything.

I don't trust the fish ID readings as much. I've paddled over schools of bass that I could see without picking up a reading and have nailed bass in areas that should have been empty.

If you are tough on your gear, take advantage of their 1-year warranty period. I started to experience intermittent power problems last fall and sent mine back in over the winter. It came back with a new PCB and a software upgrade.
