I hate going to the beach now.....and just sitting I mean, you know, on a blanket and watching the kids play! You get there....walk on and carry all your stuff out to find a nice spot........but there ain't any nice spots cause' the freakin' beach is littered with cigarette butts from all of the ignorant smokers who treat the beach like their own personal "giant ashtray"!!!!!!

The butts blow across the sand....they stick to your feet....you are trying to build a sand castle with the kids but...hey! There is a cigarette butt wedged in the side of your castle!!!!!

You know the BOWLS outside of all of the public buildings and restaurants that are just filled to capacity with smouldering cigarette butts????? Yeah....thats pretty much what I feel like when I am sitting at the beach "TRYING" to enjoy the day!!!! Like I am sitting inside one of those giant ashtrays!!!!

Smoke away folks......smoke away!

it amazes me how people just toss these things EVERYWHERE. i mean some people who would never consider littering will just throw these burning things just about anywhere.

Yeah...and they don't think twice about it! They might just as well be throwing a bag of garbage.....its the same thing! Every time I go by one of those smouldering vats of cigarette butts outside if like a supermarket or a Dunkin Donuts (which is also great for us non-smokers) I want to drop my draws and piss all over the smouldering bucket just to make it stop!!!

indecent exposure bigfish and putting yourself at risk for fines or freedoms

so it would be better to bring a jar of piss with you and ceremoniously

pour it over the stinky mess to extinguish the smoldering offensive butts.

in california they have these beach sifter vehicles that pick up and

redistribute sifted "clean sand" back onto the beach..... real nice...

its what we need here.... i used to drive over a hundred miles to find

a secluded beach.... without all that pollution.... rare find now....

kills me to see people at the turn around signal lights dumping their

full astrays out the window as if the street is their personal dump...

and the people who are walking into department stores think nothing

of taking their last few drags before entering and then just tossing it still

lit at the entrance of the store.... it's illegal and not enforced daily.

the trash is bad these day's I will say......but the worst offender's are the kid's/parent's that let their kid's dig BIG hole's in the beach, then at the end of their stay get up and leave without filling them in...then your running the beach at nite, watching for bait,skunk anything to give you a hint that fish maybe there.....BANG! your front end just went in a 4' hole and your streering wheel has your face print on it.

Mr BigFish..I smoke, but I feel your pain....When I go any where especially to the beach, I take a little empty container for our trash and my butts...Last weekend we where on some beach on the Cape with the kids, the trash was terrible! I respect nature and I respect other people...So not "all" smokers use the beach as their giant ashtray or dumpster... I love it when my son comes up to me with trash in his hands or he is trying to eat something that he found in the sand (hes 3) and does not know any better....Is it that hard to bring a trash bag on the beach with you???!!!??? Come on people...this what our kids have to grow up in!!!!

And what did YOU do with your butts when you smoked Bigfish? Were you considerate enough to always use an ashtray for every butt you smoked? if so, you are a saint

My family, ex and kids went to Florida, Gotta be about 10,12 years ago...Drove our rental car out on Daytona beach..Beautiful beach...We parked ,went swimming, then sat on the beach relaxing....Kids started to dig in the sand and as Bigfish said butts everywhere....I f$%$#% dug down at least 2 feet and found ciggerettes butts,,,I was totaly disgusted and disappointed....It was gross...
It pisses me off even more that it is happening around here,,,,^&&%$$

What you pack in you pack out. Very little trash on mountain trails. Beaches are a different story. I have hike many of them in several states. Once I did pick up an empty two liter bottle in Colorado two years ago, and disposed of it at the bottom of Long Peak Trail.

Larry, NJ has a similar problem on its beaches, especially with a hard East blow.

Instead of cigarette butts, it's plastic tampon applicators (Karl F calls 'em beach whistles).
