First I dont understand the 12inch leader? Why so short? Should be at least 30inches.You dont want the weight that close to your jig.

Second You dont want the weight "stationary" When a fish hits that jig, there going to feel that weight and not take.

Use a barrell swivel, in back of the barrell swivel on your main line, use an egg-sinker, it allows the jig and line to move freely and the fish wont feel that additional weight.And use a leader thats at least 30 to 36 inches in length.

Better yet, use a heavier jig to get down to where you want to be, assuming your fishing in deep moving water.
