It's now 40 people dead (innocent people) and 300 innocent people wounded. Time to face up to the facts boys and girls, religion is the number one cause of our world's troubles today. You think it can't happen here? Just as there are Muslim extremists and good Muslims there is a growing front of Christian Extremeism in this country. Bombings and shootings at abortion clinics are just the start. Jimmy Swaggart, that two timing whore banging Jesus/bible spouting slime, tells people on his TV show each week that those who do not beoieve the bible is the true word of God, line for line are sinners and evil that most be converted or cast out of our society. Cast out? What the hell does that mean? Bible belt theaters refuse to show a film that shows the scientific view of the development of life on this planet. In thier view, everyone should believe that the earth is only 10,000 years old and Adam and Eve were the first man and woman. The fundemantelist Christian movement, now promoted by our Government, the President and the Religious right ( is that as in right as opposed to left or right as opposed to wrong?) is slowly overtaking our freedoms as granted by our Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
There are those who would love to see the whole country under the control of Christian Fundementalism and I might inject probably secretly admire the way the Taliban ran Afghanistan and the way Iran's Imam's run thier governement. A country cannot be run on the values of any one religion, that would be obscene.
Gearge Carlin, the comedian said it best when in his monologue he cites religion as the major cause of war today. "Hey, do you believe in God?", "No", Bang! "Hey, do you believe in God"? "Yes". 'do you believe in my God"? "No". Bang! Seperation of Church and State, where did I hear that? Religious freedom protected by the Government okay. A government run by a relgion is not.
Time to take on religious extremism anywhere by any means nescesary before it enslaves us all. I don't think God meant it to be this way at all. Kindness, caring and loving each other is not a religious virtue by any means, that those virtues must be fostered in our children and in everyone should be the worlds guiding principle.
