Awesome - like last year's tourney. I wonder how much was ledt on ESPNs editing floor after the heat they are getting from the planktonhuggers...

Did anyone watch it. Left me with a PO'd feeling. Don't you think that before gaffing something in the head it would make sense to see if its a keeper
some of those guys are just greedy

yep that sux. last years was full of crap like that too. guys cutting bluesharks jaws in 1/2 to get there 1 dollar hook back. four gaffs in a blue shark later to be tossed overboard when the weight was questionable.

Yeh - that was disappointing. Especially when some of the fish weren't close. I assume that the typical tourney sharkers can eyeball what they have before gaffing the daylights out of it. I'm willing to bet that a lot of the not even close shorts were mishandled by newbies to the tourneys, some caught up in last year's hype on ESPN... They said there were a LOT of new boats this year...

Pretty sure there was only 20 film crews on various boats. And yes, alot of new boats, I believe it was someting around 270 boat entries?? The biggest ever. ESPN's coverage is getting alot more people interested in entering. It gets more and more every year becasue of the publicity. I think the BBGFC has a 5 year deal with ESPN, but that doesn't mean it will ever air on TV, but when it does that is a nice check for the owner of the club. He has really done a great job promoteing tourney's and has done his best to refain boats from bringing in small sharks with more stringent rules.

John;
Almost anyone who has caught a lot of sharks can eyeball them pretty good; there is a Sizeable difference between a 300lb blue and a 250lb blue....

Well i'm new to sharkin to and I wouldn't do anything close to what I saw before I had a real good idea of the weight and length.
I caught one on monday that I thought was a bruiser and it was probably 250ish and 9 - 10 feet. we didn't go crazy with a gaff or anything.
They need to have a class or something for the idiots who don't know what they are doing. Something should be done about that

I watched it, and I think that any boat that does that should be disqualified. I also think if you take a shark on board you should have to weigh it, that one boat had a Mako they thought was borderline and on the way in they were talking about not weighing it, cause they did not want to be embarassed.
