great minds think alike
i was working on some shapes.
came up with one that i could split right down the middle and have 2 birds out of the same blank.it's about 5" long, i'll take some pics later.
let me know if you got any better ideas. i was thinking of plexi for the wings or maybe stainless lip matirial. was also toying with a huge jitterbug shaped lip but not sure how it will swim?

Yes sir, that's what I was thinking too! Plexi for the wings and I have sheets of silver mylar that I have been putting on the underside of the wings and bodys of my birds. You should see the reflectivity in the water. Like Diamonds! I was thinking of making daisys out of shaped wooden bodies like pencil poppers in reverse with a larger specimen on the back with the stinger. Big eyes on 'em and pink/gold/purple or chartreuse/yellow gold/pearl combos. Gonna be a good winter season down in the basement workshop!

Flap, you'll get trout fever, and hit the ponds
Man, you woulda freaked if you saw what I saw at my pond around dusk last night
Best of luck with the new lathe, and enjoy the turning bug, if it gets ahold of you, you're all done

Mike: take that top nat. mag. needle and put a slug of lead [1/4]in the nose and a slug in the butt[3/8],,take a skin and pull it over to the nose and tie it off...3" of tail skin off the butt and you got one killer eel skin plug.

hmm,,tail weights in the nose,,good idea.
that adds a whole new weighting plan. good way to hide 'em
those jointeds swim super. like a snake, but they cast like tissue paper.
the black one has a slug in the back of the first 1/2 of the body and a tiny chin weight. casts way better, thats a winner.
i think i'll make the tails shorter maybe they'll cast better?
question?
saltwater to freshwater bouyancy difference?
as in plugs floating in the sink, compared to the cold north atlantic?
less bouyant? or more?
