Not sure I understand your point. Are you considering the ETEC to be old technology? Hardly, it represents the 3rd generation of Direct Fuel Injected 2-stroke engines.
1st generation (1997-2001): Mercury OptiMax, OMC FICHT
2nd Generation (2002-2004): Mercury Digital OptiMax, Bombardier FICHT RAM, Yamaha HPDI, Nissan/Tohatsu TLDI
3rd Generation (2005+): Bombardier ETEC
Or are you saying that
all 2-stroke engines are old technology? I also run a HPDI engine and it has been flawless. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase another DFI 2-stroke engine in the future.
