Thanks for the replies. Shawn they said it would be good out to 24nm but I figured 10-12 nm would be at the good end. That is all I realy need so anything past that would be an extra.

I highly doubt you will get 10-12nm you are only in a 21' the radar needs to be up pretty high

Vectorfisher my radar arch is about 12' above the water line will this help?

Every little bit helps, mine was on top of my Hydra Sports which was a pretty high T top (Link Sr) could walk under without d#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&g, and I don't think I could pick anything up in that range, I can also count on 1 hand the amount of times I changed the setting out of the 1/8 mile range. The C series units are nice just don't buy on range as you would be dissapointed if you bought the 24 mile unit and it is only good for 9 on your boat.

In my best Mr Miaggi voice Ahh Danielson must remember earth is round radar waves go straight :-)

true but land will show as will other larger/taller boats.
good for searching whear the cod fleet is hiding out.

Vector makes a great point...
I rarely run more than 1/2 mile range inshore, and our rader is 20+ft up and can p/u a ways out. Great for picking up squall lines though
