my life is seafood [and fishing], so this thread is of great intrest to me. I can't rank the fish. Too difficult, and depends on what i am eating right now. for example, i just got back from iceland, so artic char is my number one right now, by july it will be fluke, or if I go back to alaska maybe fresh kings or halibut. Come labor day, all i can think about is lobster and steamers straight from the clambake... Last summer I was all about bluefin tuna. I sure hope that happens again. I sell/eat a lot (too much) cod, haddock, scallops, talapia, atlantic salmon, AK pollock, and shrimp, so those don't make my list.

If you are curious, this is the top 10 seafood seafood species consumed in the US, with 2004 lbs. per capita consumption:

Shrimp - 4.2
Canned Tuna - 3.3
Salmon - 2.2
AK Pollock- 1.3
Catfish - 1.1
Tilapia - .70
Crab - .63
Cod - .60
Clams - .47
Flatfish - .332

Interesting to note, 4 of the top 6 are farmed species. Wild caught species would be higher, but unfortunatley they do not have the fisheries to support them.

i bent my wookie

90% of the fish I eat I catch myself.I eat fish 1-2 times a month during fishing season.I'll order fish on occasion in the off season when I eat out.

Fluke is my first choice and I always catch it as "bycatch" when striper fishing, they just seem to love those yellow/white bombers at sundown. Fluke truly is wholesome deliciousness.

Short answer is no. Sea bass are much (IMHO) better than striped bass.
