By the way if you plan on bottom fishing from that pier, beware of all the old gear down there. You're gonna break off alot. The Daily Snooze said that the BlueGold Farm was an oyster farm. Wrong, it was a mussel farm. About 100 yards offshore you'll notice a bunch of floats. That's an oyster farm. Quonset Points grow there. The farm is expanding. The farm encompasses 15 acres. The acreage is'nt expanding just the number of lines supporting the oysters are.

BlueGold Farm and the new proposed pier occupy the same area. Saltwater Farms is the name of the company who runs the oyster farm just north and west of the new pier.

Lack of enforcement should not be a barrier to access or be used as a knee-jerk reaction to prevent the access from moving forward. Instead of having the local cops stake out stop signs to ticket working people, have them get off their a__es and ticket and fine the poachers and litterrs. Put a couple of young cops on foot patrol and start enforcing the laws. The fines for littering are substantial and you don't need to be #^&#^&#^&#^& Tracy to find the offenders.

The pier north of the new proposal is Melville. It is off limits to fishing unless by boat. Things are going to get interesting the next few years on Burma Rd. The O'Neill guy is supposedly putting in a marina with the most slips in New England or is it RI at Weaver Cove north of the boat ramp. He's also got a small marina going in at Kaiser for Carnegie Abbey residents. You know it's funny. The well to do wanted nothing to do with the west side and now they can't get their hands off it. Let's just hope access is'nt squashed in the near furure. Don't get me started on the west side and how rail service is'nt going to extend through this O'Neil guy and his developments north of Green Animals. If that does'nt happen, shame on Portsmouth. This island needs other alternatives other than cars for the tourist to reach Newport.
