Well, I caught one fish which while not large, was the largest of the weekend, GB's was largest for the first night ....

GB - Again, big thanks for a great weekend! Everything went right but the weather. Ya know, the put the fish down weather that seems to accompany a S-B weekend ....

A few people were getting whacked around on the plugs they created which was very cool... Some people missed a few fish (me) but the biggest fish that turned to a miss was one GB had whack his plug just before another monstrous cow flopped on the line/leader and broke that... GB estimated it was a 40 pounder on the plug (I saw the body and it was big)....

Wierdest thing, happened to at least me, Specialist, & Slip = we were getting our plugs whacked just as the light @ Gayhead swung arouns on our plugs. Happened several times to me over about a 45 minute period - wierd...

But again, an awesome weekend

I'd give some more details but I'm making up for missed time and am not really "on the computer again "

OH YEH - Awesome Island!!

Some fish were caught in rather fishless waters after tough conditions. Nightfighter caught the most I believe.

Lots of good laughs and very challenging fishing (challenging plug choices too, right Clamdigger? )
Thanks Greg for the awesome oppurtunity

BTW all 3 of my bass came at dusk on a Tattoo popper, thanks Tattoo

I'm gonna go pass out...

It was a fun, yet challenging, fishing adventure. It had all the makings for some big fish, the weather just did'nt co-operate. I caught my three fish on different things, one on a pikie I made, another on a Lex lure lipless swimmer, and the last was on an eel. The last fish was 30"-32" fish, and the only one taken on an eel by the crew. Unfortunately we were so excited at catching, we forgot to take pics.

The mystery of Gay Head Light was something else. I wish we could have figured it out, it might have made a difference.

As always it was a pleasure fishing with you guys, and some new faces. I would like to thank John for making it out, I enjoyed your company, and the power nap. Redcrabber for the parking local. Mr. & Mrs. Goose for the shuttle, Saltheart, and Smokey for the eels, and especially GB for making the whole thing happen. GB you went far above and beyond expectations. I know that it was truly appreaciated by all of us. Thanks in a big way to you, and your aunt.

Now I will go and sleep off the Bonless Buffalo wings I had, and dream of fishing for old linesides.

Also you'll be happy to hear on my very first cast from shore with your squid teardrop popper I had a hit but failed to hook up. Red crabber may have gotten a pic of the take.

I had some smacks at my pikes too and one was on but my line was hung in the weed and I let slome slack and it was gone.

The predator copy in black and purple got me the smack as the lighthouse came around, but then I had a technical difficulty with my line and I lost that plug to the fishgods.

We had a good time, atleast the rain stopped after we got there, it was a very exhausting trip, especially since I rousted some at 5 to go back out, but Chris was not gonna do that he had just came in 2 hours before.

11 guys snoring between 3 am and 5 am failed to blow the roof off though

...GB.....I LOVE YOU MAN!!

..I agree with you 100% , even though the fish didn't co-operate, I had a blast. What a great group of guys...lotta laughs too!!

...something y'all may not know...GB didn't even fish!!!....he insisted we all head out (after leading us in the right directions)..while he stayed back at the "Mill"...and got things ready for us when we returned. DRYER and ALL!!! ..Thank God for that dryer...I'm sure I speak for all of us.

Greg I can't thank enough. You are a GREAT host...and I'd definately LOVE to do it again. I learned a couple of things my first time on the Island, the further SouthWest you walk, the further SouthWest you want to walk ...what an Island!!! .... hey fellas, hows the lower body feeling??....

...a big thank you to Saltheart and Smokey for the contribution, maybe you's guys can catch the next one...

I wish you lots of luck with your new business on the Island.....

Nice detail Bloo ...

And it's not that GB didn't fish, he did Friday night and landed Saturday's Lunch, the one with the "Clawed Ones" in the tummy.... He also danced with the biggest when the cow smacked that popper...

How's the body? SORE, Calf muscles were really hurting yesterday, almost enough to drown out the lower back & bad knees

We were the first guys at Redcrabbers but after assesing the heavy rain and wind and the gear we had brought , we decided we weren't well prepared for a very wet weekend and decided not to board the ferry. Next time we'll be better geared out. Sounds like everyone had fun despite the weather.

Greg,
Thank you, thank you, thank you. You are the consumate host. Hell yes I'm in for a September rematch!! (I could do a monthly rematch!) And I will trade work at the house for another chance to fish there. Line up some projects baby!!! And no migraines allowed next time.
John, thoroughly enjoyed our heart to heart midnight talk in the howling noreast wind with Gay Head light putting on a show. Funny how life can constantly come up with a curveball at just the wrong time.
Red Crabber, thanks for the secure parking. And Goose and Bruce for the shuttling back and forth to the ferry. Goose and Specialist sure did hook me up with leaders and the short course on eeling!
Chris L. is destined to be the winning write in candidate as Mayor of the People's Republic of Cambridge some day! You crack me up!
Milo, did you ever figure out what sawed off your leader above the swivel?Wish I had been there for that 15 minutes, but had to catch some sleep. Bloo, got a clothspin?
I fished the most with Clammer, and had a great time up and down Barge Beach. And up and down, and up and down again. Hey Clammer, think that guy in the yellow slicker is still fishin' the marina?

Learned a lot, fished as much as I could, caught some, lost a couple. But the place has got to give up big fish next time. Even the charter boats that were just beyond casting distance weren't catching. The fish were down deep this weekend.
Saltheart, you got mail coming this week (Wed?) Had it with me to give to you. Missed you and Smokey, but be warned, you gotta be able to be mobile down there. The Allstar you built me was a DREAM, threw a mile, it's light, just love it. Balances nicly with the reel too. Think the guys liked it.
Legs didn't feel bad today, but arm is junk. When do we go again?!?!
Thanks to all for a great time.

Ross, it was good talking to you too.

Sad thing is that the only talking on the beach I didn't like was that initial call over the radio for pizza

That's right, forgot about Clammer's Rhody Weiner stand or whatever the call it in the ocean state
