What is effect of moon on fish???

OK, maybe I am a slow learner, but I did a search, read this; http://www.striped-bass.com/Stripert...ght=moon+phase

So what are your theories, or ones you have heard, as to the effect of the moon on fish, on fishing, and why???

new moon =no moon=dark nights =great fishing
full moon =big tides.big tides +cloud cover=great fishing.full moon+no clouds=bad fishing.
Summary;fish whenever you can except when it's bright.

The main effect of the moon is the bigger tides around the full or new moons. Bigger tides means stronger currents and flows, which bass love. The dark nights of the new moon seem to be better but I usually never pass up around the full moon.

Wink nightfigter

trust me .. look to llewellyn's
anyways...
this full moon of march is in virgo (barren) (on the 14th) followed by

libra (semi fruitfall) 15th and 16th ....(thats when you plant flower bulbs) then on the 17th 18th 19th its in Scorpio (fruitfall) so those are three much better days to fish coming up....
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
but hey if your a striped bass....ie a big ole silver fish that reflects moonlight like a bastage...then moonlight is your enemy because it gives away your position....(in the upper water level 1-10ft ) and i theorize that fish (stripers) have to take advantage of every shadow and shadow line ,air bubbles in the surf or the roll of a wave and Rocks,,,as structure to give them the stealth advantage. i think when the moon is full thats the time to fish deeper water where moonlight isn't as much a factor.... just my thoughts on it tho....

Basswipe, thanks. I put that thread in my favorites to review from time to time.
When I got the 'nightfighter' handle in the service, I was young and my eyesight was great! Excelled in night conditions, ie. the name. Not so as I approach fifty..... So I must admit to preferring the moonlit nights these days. I posted the question to understand the reasons (more current) which may motivate me more to fish the new moon nights.

Arrow eyesight in your 50's

back in the war with germany our bomber pilots
were made to take billberry herb to strengthen their
long distance vision so they could visually see their targets
thru the bottom of the plane where there was a big crosshair.

it strengthens your eye -sight for real...
not to mention beta carrotien (carrot juice)
that comes bottled now
at some super markets which you can drink mid day
and have better nightime vision later that night....
