Plan on re-charging more often... also, you can make a self-contained fishfinder batt set... you can wire 2 6v lantern batts in series and run that off one and the bait tank off the other...

Deep cycle battery works fine. That is all I have used for years in my tin boat. Just recharge every couple times. P.

Krispy old man, I have a 2001 Nissan 18hp electric start with built in pull in case the battery fails. I love the system, less worries. I run a deep cycle 12volt Marine battery and the engine has a built in charging system to boot. I run a Humminbird off of it and this year lights. Three years now ( I bought it as a leftover, new in box in 2003)
and not one problem. It's a two stroke cause in a small boat you need good response when you got to pull a hole shot to get out of a ferry's way in Woods Hole Channel at night. 4 strokes don't do that as well.

Why even try.........
