Here's the deal, stainless doesn't bend/flex therefore you get better performance. Because it doesn't bend if you hit something hard, you can junk your whole lower unit.
As mentioned aluminum bends therefore if you hit a rock, you are most likely not going to loose your entire lower unit.
Thanks guys I am going with the SST my biggest trouble is with hitting lobster pots at night and bending the blades. I think with the SST it will bounce off or cut the line so no harm done to boat or prop just to the pot. Now if I fished like Clammer I would get a rubber prop for the rocks
