Visited by the EP - Striper Talk Striped Bass Fishing, Surfcasting, Boating

When pulling out last night I was safety checked by the EP. Have never been before so I wasn't sure what to expect... Had some nerves going and must have called him sir 50 times.

All was fine and I of course passed but I always think the worst when instances like this come up. The semi funny part was when he asked for my boat reg. My gf tells me she put my wallet in the cooler (i always leave it on the center console)
As I go into the cooler and look for it all you here are the clink clanks of glass bottles... Not that we were terribly lubricated but it just sounded REAL bad. We will now leave my wallet on the center console.

Remeber to check the exp date of your fire extinguishers

oh i wasnt mad at all. He was real nice and didn't give me a hard time in the least.... kinda made fun of me for not having any fish in the boat but we will let that slide

They were VERY thorough last time the boat I was on was boarded...

Right down to the expiration dates on the flares. He was a little smug about the whole thing.

The highlight was my buddy called him out on a technicality. The RI EPO tried to bust our balls for only having a validation sticker on one side of the boat. This boat was registered in MA, and in MA you only need 1 and they only give you 1. RI EPO insisted otherwise. Eventually he had to admit defeat when he called up the main office and got shot down. After that he became a bit more social and wanted to know what we caught the bass in the fish box on....

thats nothing compared to the ramp checks the FAA gives.
sometimes they really bust em on ya.

Only checked once? Thats nuttin! I`ve been checked 4 times allready this season. Twice at Bold Point, once at Oakland Beach and once at the ramp in Bissell Cove. I try to remain calm but it`s getting to be a real PITA!

Its funny you mention the fire extinguisher. I got boarded earlier in the season, the epo asked what color the fire extinguisher said. I said green, but it was empty. Do they evaporate or something, I know I never used it?
