I have seen a 40" fish go 29.5 pounds. I hate it when people are so quick to judge another when they post a pic of their fish with weights and lengths.
No different than humans....take 2 people that are 5'6" and one can weigh 150 pounds while the other weighs 175 pounds.....and they LOOK the same!!!!
P.S. Bassyius....nice fish!

Come to thnk of it ive never seen a 42" go 30...

A 39" fish could go 30#---pre-spawn, carrying its winter fat and loaded with roe.
I've caught many 30# fish--the shortest one was 43".

I hate to pile on but that fish is no more than 20-21# tops. Maybe a typo?
Still a nice fish though

Who cares what it weights. The guy is pumped he caught a damn nice fish. But of course, the so called "experts" have to make a stink because it doesnt look like the weight he claims. Who really cares!? Its a nice fish, leave it at that.

First off, nice fish and glad you enjoyed the hunt.
I really don't want to see this thread go down the tubes over fish size. Though it looks like the scale might be off a bit there is a chance the pic makes it look a lot smaller. Remember when Eben made that 20 inch fish look like a 30#er ?

I caught a 35" 25# fish 2 years ago. 40" 30# can definitely happen. He is supporting most of the fishes weight under the gut. So I think it is hard to judge the fishes girth. If he was lipping it, people would have bashed him for holding the fish wrong. Nice fish!
