Are they allowed any time to learn it or are they expected to know it fluently as soon as they cross the border. I know everybodies family has someone that came to this country and had to learn english, whether it be from Italy, Greece, or some other place. and I guarentee they didn't speak it perfectly within hours of reaching Ellis island....it takes time.
it takes time to learn it and a lot of people do learn it over time. How about a little patience.
I work with plenty of Spanish people that struggle with the english language but they try every day to learn it. They come to work every day and work hard. a lot of them become citizens.
This speak english or get out of my country crap gets real old......
