Yes, the spiral pic was a rod that was extended 5", with 2 layers of cork tape. So far I have not glued down the cord.
The black cord rod has one wrap over itself and then all the way down the rod. Its held w/ electrical tape at the handle(which Ill thread wrap and epoxy over) and held by the butt cap at the bottom. It was wrapped very tight, and the cord shrinks some after it gets a little wet to make it even tighter. It doesnt move.
One nice thing about the cord over cork, esp. on conventional jigging rods is that it doesnt wear your waders or top, and doesnt wear thin like cork tape can. It also glides over clothing, wear cork tape pulls at your sleeves or legs when shifting positions.

Next Im gonna try doing a full cord wrap over an inner spiraled length of cord, using 2 colors for the over wrap

Sooner or later you're going to realize just as I did that there's a difference between knowing the path and walking the path. - Morpheus

Cool..
how much chute cord did you use (lengthwise) to wrap? (roughly..)
Looks like a good post holiday project...
cool idea..
and looks less slippery than cork tape when you have S--D Scales on your hands

Maybe 15-20ft for the full butt wrap, 4-5ft for the spiral. They sell tons of colors too
