I never understood your dislike of the bluefish. When smoked they are pretty damn tasty. Probably one of the better smoking fish. And if you eat them fresh they are not bad by any means. IMO we owe a lot ot the bluefish, they have saved many-a-charter-trip for a lot of captains over the years.
There is a nice fellow who has an organic farm out here and he and his wife think bluefish are the best eating fish in the sea. (seriously) He does not fish very often and I trade him fresh bluefish for organic veggies all summer...each of us think we are getting the better end of the deal.

he told me this story.....about how they were out on their
boat catching big blues....so this one guy decides to keep
a big blue and puts him in a big clear garbage bag and hangs it up.
