Jim - this NE wind will probably start pushing the fish N or boston your way, it certainly did last year. Just depends what way they go when they start heading south.

October has been good, but not like Aug. and September. Crazy how warm its been. Luds and I got a surprise visit from some skinny dippers last night - you don't expect that in October.

This weekend will probably be my last really hard weekend up here. Not because there still won't be fish available - but because I pushed really hard in Aug and Sept and I'm ready - and the wife is certainly ready. I'll still get out, but the weeknight all nighters and beating myself up will probably end. I'll be out on BI for the new moon in Nov. and probably make a RI trip or two after that.

ok.. i think i finally figured it out thanks to this thread.. this fish don't hate my buddy and i. we are just ass backwards. i remember every one bitchin and moaning about how slow late june and into july were. mean while my buddy and i were catching 20+ fish a day. nothing special... but still tons of fish. then people start saying august and september were great.. and him and i catch nothing. literally. we also caught fish in the most unattractive of fishing spots in the most unattractive conditions. (mid day, no cover 95 degrees.)

sooooo.. hope no one else catches any fish so we will start catching em.. lol. sorry guys. but if it's between you and me catching the fish. i choose me. you guys can have a great november. our shop closes in two weeks. so we are running out of time.

I agree.
I'm waiting for the next push which could be any day now or not at all. With the new moon this week it wouldn't surprise me if it kicks up the next couple of days though.
Actually, the full in September served up some real nice fish in good numbers so who knows WTF moon they will show on.

It's not the bait

So far this October has been as bad as last October for me - while October of 2005 was great. Hopefully things will change with this week of unsettled weather and the new moon. Plus my grass needs the friggin' rain!

Fished North River on Sunday in a north wind with decent sized waves. Nice outgoing tide too.
Threw herring, clams, worms, plugs, even a live-lined cunner, nada. The big ought; not even a nibble! What gives?
