Would you be going far (over a mile) if you would be i recomend a longer kayak that would track better and would be easier to paddle.

I have a touring kayak from perception its the sole
here My kayak I have this boat in the plastic and it is very nice
i don't know if you want a sit on top or not depending on how far you have to carry it, because they are more awkward. i like the regular kayaks because they can be used for so much more than the sit on tops. thats my $.02
